Durban — A private security company was part of multidisciplinary teams which recovered three stolen vehicles — a Toyota Etios Cross, VW Polo and Nissan NP200.

On Friday afternoon, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an urgent alert about a stolen vehicle, a Toyota Etios Cross, on Chris Hani Road in the Briardene area.

Managing director Tyron Powell said the vehicle was taken from outside a local panel shop, where it had been dropped off for repairs.

According to the panel shop’s report, unknown suspects stole the vehicle while it was parked outside the premises. The vehicle belonged to a customer who had brought it in for service and was expected to retrieve it later in the day.

Powell said that acting swiftly on the information received, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, in collaboration with the Greenwood Park SAPS Trio Crimes Unit and the SAPS Vehicle and Trio Crimes Unit, launched a co-ordinated effort to locate the stolen car.

“Their rapid response paid off when the vehicle was successfully recovered, abandoned in Newlands West,” Powell said.

He said the vehicle was taken to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.

“This successful recovery highlights the strength of Marshall Security’s partnership with SAPS and the importance of fast action in preventing further losses from crime.

“We commend our Special Operations Team for their swift response and the collaborative efforts of the SAPS, ensuring the vehicle was safely returned for further processing,” Powell said.

During the same week, the same security company recovered vehicles stolen from Morningside.

Powell said that last week, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team successfully assisted in the recovery of multiple stolen vehicles across the Morningside area, thanks to co-ordinated efforts with Tracker SA, Matrix Tracking, Car Track, and the SAPS.

In one incident, on Thursday afternoon, the Marshall Security Special Operations Team was activated by Tracker SA to assist in the recovery of a blue VW Polo stolen from Bute Road in the Morningside area.

Upon receiving the vehicle’s last known location, their Special Operations Team, alongside Tracker SA and the Provincial Vehicle Trio and Vehicle Task Team, immediately responded.

“The vehicle was found abandoned on Igome Road in KwaMashu. It was handed over to KwaMashu SAPS for further investigation,” Powell said.

In another incident, on Wednesday afternoon, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team responded to an activation from Matrix Tracking regarding a stolen Nissan NP200 from Stamford Hill Road in the Morningside area.

“Following an extensive tracking effort, the vehicle was located abandoned in the Avoca Hills area. The stolen vehicle was recovered by Matrix Tracking and our Special Operations Team and was then taken to KwaMashu SAPS for further investigation,” Powell said.

Powell added: “These incidents highlight the dedication and co-ordinated efforts of Marshall Security Special Operations Team, Tracker SA, Matrix Tracking, Car Track, and the SAPS in ensuring community safety and the recovery of stolen vehicles. We commend our Special Operations Team for their swift actions and commitment to bringing offenders to justice and recovering stolen assets.”
