Durban — The driver of a vehicle with four occupants was killed after he apparently lost control of it before crashing into a rock face on a KwaZulu-Natal highway.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said that on Tuesday evening, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on Dumisani Makhaye Drive in KwaDabeka, west of Durban.
Herbst said reports indicated that the driver of a light motor vehicle with four occupants lost control of it and collided with a rock face.
“When medics arrived on the scene, they found that three occupants, all adult males, had sustained serious injuries,” Herbst said.
“A Netcare 911 rescue technician with the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free the occupants of the vehicle.
“The driver of the car, also an adult male, showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on arrival.”
He said that the three seriously injured patients were treated at the scene by emergency care practitioners and once stabilised were transported to hospital for further care.
He added that the circumstances leading to the collision would be investigated by the Ntuzuma SAPS who were at the scene.
Police have been approached for comment.
