Durban — Phoenix police are investigating a case of murder after a man was shot dead on Monday night.
Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said: “It is alleged that on September 5, at 10.05pm a 32-year-old man was at Evercroft Road in Phoenix when he was fatally shot by two unknown men who fled.”
KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said a shooting left one person dead in Phoenix on Monday night.
Naidoo said KZN VIP responded to reports of a shooting in the Longcroft area. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots before seeing a white Mercedes-Benz speed off with no number plates.
“The motive behind the shooting cannot be confirmed at this stage.”
He said a police investigation would follow.
According to Facebook posts, the victim was Avendren Avi Appalsamy.

Manogarie Munusamy said: “RIP”. She heard the gunshots and could not sleep afterwards, it sounded close.
