Durban — A priest’s vehicle burst into flames shortly before he had to leave to conduct a prayer on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened at the priest’s home on Myna Road in Dawncrest.
Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) spokesperson Prem Balram said that a Hindu priest’s vehicle was extensively damaged after it burst into flames at his home.
Balram said that Rusa officers were called out to the residence at about 4.32pm.
“On arrival, reaction officers discovered the engine compartment of a white Mazda 3 engulfed in flames. With the use of a garden hose, officers managed to extinguish the fire,” Balram said.
“According to the owner of the vehicle, he returned from shopping and was preparing to leave to conduct a prayer when he heard an explosion. Upon investigation, he found his vehicle on fire.”
Balram said that the circumstances surrounding the incident were not established immediately.
