Durban — eThekwini Municipality residents have indicated that the municipality’s update on a power outage in Durban North was in poor taste while others have had no water or electricity for longer periods of time.
On Tuesday morning, the municipality, on its Facebook page, gave an update on the electricity outage in Durban North and said the teams were busy and estimated that power would be restored by 9.30am.
Reacting on Facebook people said:
Brian Hlamapi said the people were privileged. It is said that “teams are busy”. When we ask we are asked about a reference number.
Mhlengi Chonco said: “For Durban North, there is so much urgency and a time frame to restore electricity but in other areas there is never such communication. It's whatever time even after 72 hours it's fine.”
Sicelo Celoh Shabalala said: “First time I have seen the exact estimated repair time. We are always told it’s 2-24 hours the most and that exceeds in most cases. Talk about (trash emoji) service.”
Cllr Ntuli said: “Huh?!! Durban North outage has an estimated power restoring time. I’ve never seen Inanda with one.”
Lebohang Sluleko Mntongenankinga Mathobela said: “Hebanna places of special people, you even have an estimated restoration time. While for many people in underprivileged communities, the time of restoration is always not known. Hhayi bandla carry on!”
