Rhumbelow Theatre, Durban: Tiles Club 58th Reunion. The Tiles Club was opened July 1964 in Durban and was the first club in South Africa to offer live local bands and entertainment for teenagers. The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music, UKZN: In collaboration with The Music Imbizo presents Matti Klein on “Twosday”, August 27 at 5.30pm. Polish British conductor Ewa Strusińska will wield the baton on Thursday August 22 for the first of two early Spring Season concerts by the KZNPO at the Playhouse.

Playhouse Opera: The KZNPO hosts its Early Spring Season at the Playhouse Opera on Thursday August 22 and August 29 at 7pm, each with a woman conductor and a woman soloist. This Thursday, renowned Polish British conductor Ewa Strusińska is on the podium with Schumann’s enchanting Carnival Opus 9. Internationally celebrated Australian violinist Emily Sun takes centre stage in a performance of Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto. After intermission is Beethoven’s titanic Seventh Symphony.
