Somizi Mhlongo is celebrating a monumental achievement as his clothing brand, "Sompire Kids", made an impressive debut on one of the world's most prestigious stages, New York Fashion Week.

The South African media personality and entrepreneur expressed both surprise and gratitude, revealing that he never imagined his brand would be featured at such an iconic event.

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is renowned as a global platform that highlights cutting-edge trends and emerging talent.

It attracts designers, influencers, and fashion lovers from around the world, with an ever-growing emphasis on inclusivity and diversity.

In an emotional post shared on his social media, Mhlongo recounted how the opportunity came about.

When @3apples_pictures_sa asked me to give them @sompire_kids merchandise for their New York trip, I thought, ‘Oh sweet, they just want to wear them during rehearsals or just in between their NEW YORK FASHION WEEK gig since they're taking part in a few shows,'" he said.

“Little did I know, not expecting them to showcase my clothes on the big stage.”

Mhlongo’s heartfelt words reflect his genuine surprise at the opportunity. He continued: “What an honour. I'm beyond humbled and grateful for this opportunity. I'd like to thank all the models who trusted my brand on such a huge platform.”

Mhlongo also thanked the models by name, including @miss.globalprincesssa and @zandikogo, who played a pivotal role in showcasing his brand to a global audience.

“Can’t thank you enough,” he added.

The success of "Sompire Kids" at New York Fashion Week marks a significant milestone for Mhlongo’s brand.

What started as a personal project to provide stylish and comfortable clothing for children has now blossomed into a globally recognised fashion label.
