London - The inventor of high-tech catflaps must be grinning like a Cheshire moggie after seeing sales of his product soar.
Dr Nick Hill, a former physicist from Cambridge, created the SureFlap which opens only for approved household animals.
It does this by recognising the microchips that many owners have implanted into their pets, ensuring that feline interlopers - and even foxes - can’t get into the house. It also ensures that a poorly cat who needs to stay indoors can’t get out.
Dr Hill remortgaged his house to launch the product before going on to sell 400 000 across seven countries.
This summer he is launching a feeding bowl with a lid that opens only when it identifies a cat with a microchip. It will stop a greedy moggie from gobbling up food intended for other pets. - Daily Mail
