Why stick to the same boring blends of booze when you could go off-track and discover something delicious in the most unexpected of combos?

We all love a good drink but the same thing over and over and over again can get kind of stale.

That is why content creators like London-based Dee and South Africa’s Katlego (aka Mr. Bartender) on TikTok are big on sharing drink combinations that are strange but quite tasty as part of their content to help adventurous drinkers on new drinks to try.

Not only do they share their favourite combinations but also welcome suggestions from their followers on what they can try on their next taste-test video.

Mzansi’s adventurous drinkers recently suggested that Dee try some of the best combinations the country loves.

In one video where he is seen mixing Disaronno liqueur and Mountain Dew, Dee said: “I love how the South Africans have entered the chat and are influencing me to get drunk with loads of different concoctions.”

After taking a sip of the drink, he noted: “Listen I don't know how it tastes like but it tastes really good. I have actually come up with a name for it. So we've got Mountain Dew and Disaronno, so I'm going to label it as ‘mounjaro’.”

South Africans were happy that Dee was trying some of their suggested combos and even suggested more for him to try. Other users even suggested that he visit SA to experience the Mzansi culture fully.

“You need to visit us here in SA! You will leave a different person,” wrote one user.

“South African here! Try making a "melktert" (milk tart) cocktail,” wrote a second user.

A third commented: “In South Africa, we had a lot of time on our hands in lockdown. We perfected our concoctions.”

A fourth wrote: “I have only just come across your TikTok and I'm here for it because I'm so bored of my usual drink. I drink once a month but I will be trying all of these each time.”

Honestly, there's nothing better than enjoying a nice Martini or cocktail during a night out, but if you are looking to get a little adventurous with your mixed drinks, below are some bizarre concoctions offering surprises.

Red wine and Coca-Cola

Red wine is seen as a refined drink and it is not advisable to pour any mixers into a hugely expensive bottle of the stuff.

However, if you have a cheap and cheerful Merlot at hand, you could spice it up by adding a good slug of Coke.

According to reports, the combination has been popular in Spain since the '70s, so it must not be that bad, considering its decades-long staying power.

Jagermeister and ginger beer

The herbal hit of this hugely popular liqueur might be overpowering in some alcohol combinations, yet because of this, it makes a natural companion for good old-fashioned ginger beer.

The fiery varieties of ginger beer are better able to hold their own against Jagermeister, so select your soft drinks accordingly.

Chocolate milk and vodka

The childhood treat gets a very adult upgrade with this unusual combination. Several recipes involve combining the two drinks online.

Vodka and Diet Coke

This unusual pairing entered the mainstream conversation in 2017 when Taylor Swift shared with Vogue that she loves combining vodka and Diet Coke.

It's important to note that Swift was a Diet Coke ambassador at the time, so it's possible that played into her statement. Still, there are likely plenty of people who gave the combination a try, thanks to the singer's suggestion.
