The festive season is not only a time for people to be out and about, some use the opportunity to pamper their homes.

From Christmas decorations to spring cleaning and painting the house, most families enjoy giving their homes an upgrade for that extra festive feeling.

Colour expert, Palesa Ramaisa, said after Delu announced True Joy as the colour of the year, it is anticipated that most people will be adding vibrant colours and cosy touches that enhance the festive ambience and create a welcoming haven for visiting friends and family.

“True Joy is the perfect living room paint. It works beautifully on its own, adding optimism and warmth to any living room, but can also brighten up any space when used as a spontaneous accent colour”, Ramaisa said.

She shared a few tips on how you can give your home a festive feel.

Elevate your living room appearance

The living room is the heart of the home,  where family and friends gather. It should feel inviting and radiate warmth and hospitality.

Create a cheerful and joyful atmosphere that lifts your spirits in your living room by adding décor accessories that will elevate your home décor and enhance the space without overwhelming it.

A brightly coloured accent wall, a vibrant piece of furniture, or a bold piece of artwork is one of the most effective ways to incorporate colour into your home.

Creating new traditions

Instead of buying a Christmas tree, you can make one with your family using recycled materials like cardboard. That way, you’ll get to spend more time with your family creating something magical.

Make enough room in your kitchen

The kitchen is one of the busiest places during the festive season. This is because everyone wants to feast and when cooking a storm, sometimes it’s nice to hang out with someone.

So make sure that you remove all the stuff you no longer need, to create enough space for them to relax and chat while you cook.

Remember, the festive season is all about creating beautiful moments with your family, so, no matter how small the gesture is, embrace it with warm hands.
