In recent years, facelifts have become the go-to procedure for the rich and famous, because. Of course, a fresh, snatched face doesn’t come cheap.
With celebs constantly under the spotlight, many are turning to the surgeon’s chair to keep things tight and youthful.
In Mzansi, stars like Khanyi Mbau and “The Real Housewives of Durban” cast member Jojo Robinson have openly flaunted their facelift journeys, proving that the “ageing gracefully” conversation now comes with a scalpel.
The reality star recently got real with her followers about her facelift journey and, let’s just say, she didn’t sugarcoat a thing.
Robinson shared a series of videos, documenting everything from day one post-surgery to six weeks later, giving her fans an unfiltered look at what really goes down after going under the knife.
“I wanted to share everything from start to finish. This video shows the reasons I wanted the facelift to the actual surgery itself. I shared videos that are really ugly. Lol. Let’s not judge. But I wanted you guys to see it as it really was,” she wrote.
Robinson admitted that the initial days post-surgery had her second-guessing everything. L
ooking in the mirror? Big mistake. Huge. According to her, the first week was rough—so rough that she thought she’d made a terrible decision.
“The first week, I got depressed because I thought I had made a massive mistake doing the surgery. I looked like an absolute MONSTER (some footage I never showed you guys).
“No one shares everything, so as women, we go into these surgeries blind and unaware that a lot of this process is normal and really we have to just trust that our bodies will heal and it will normalise,” she shared.
She didn’t hold back on how tough recovery was, either. “Trust me, it’s very hard. You really do question what you have done that first week. I suggest not looking at the mirror,” she advised.
While she acknowledged that a facelift isn’t the most painful procedure out there, she made it clear that it’s a mental challenge more than anything else.
“This is why I say this isn’t the most painful surgery but, by far, the hardest physiologically. Recovery is difficult and uncomfortable. But it’s ALL WORTH IT IN THE END,” she assured.
In an interview with Carol Ofori on an episode of “The Carol Ofori Podcast”, Robinson revealed that she has had over 20 things done.
Six or seven of the 20 were major surgeries, including multiple breast augmentations, an arm lift, a tummy tuck and liposuction.
In her latest transformation, Robinson opted for a deep plane face and neck lift, aiming for a more permanent solution to maintain her youthful appearance.
