Can you imagine going to a wedding and having to order your own food? Well, that’s what happened to this wedding guest who decided to order a pizza when the caterers ran out of food.

A Reddit user took to the app’s AITA (Am I the A**hole) page to share how it came about that he had to order his own food at a wedding.

He writes it was a small wedding of 70 people which was mostly family.

“After the ceremony every table got two bottles of wine, bread/butter, and there also was an open bar. So we started to have a few drinks,” he says.

“Then the food came out, it looked really good. The food was set up for a buffet. I was half-buzzed and looking forward to getting some food in my belly.”

As with many buffet-style meals at functions, a few tables got called up at a time and they started with the family of the bridal couple.

While he accepted that this is normal practice he does note that the bride’s side of the family were “larger people”.

“Now I don't shame people for how much they eat, but I noticed the helpings of food they had while I was patiently waiting for us to be called. I also noticed that they went for seconds before all the tables were called and no one stopped them,” he continues.

By the time his table was called, there was no food left.

“I asked if there was more coming out and apparently that already occurred. So we grabbed the little we could and went back to sit down and ate the scraps,” he writes.

“We were all still pretty hungry, and a bit pi**ed off so we kinda bashed talked that the first few tables who ate all the food.”

Then someone came up with the “drunken idea” of ordering some food, and they all chipped and ordered four large pizzas and some chicken wings from a local pizza joint close to the venue.

“It didn't take long to be delivered. I met the guy outside and brought the food to our table and we started to eat,” he continued.

This caused a bit of a commotion because there were other people who didn’t get food from the buffet either and now wanted to know from the bridal couple where the pizza was coming from.

“My friend came to talk to me about why I ordered the food, his bride was not happy about it (it ruined the aesthetics), so I told him that we didn't get to eat.”

Because the bride was so annoyed she asked that they leave.

“I didn't mean to start any problems, so me and my wife called a cab and left,” he concludes.

Was he an a**hole for ordering food at the wedding?

Reddit users had this to say.

“You don't go for seconds until all the tables have been called,” responded one user.

Another agreed saying: “NTA (Not The A**hole). There is no reason other tables should've had seconds before you had firsts. I can understand miscalculating how much food would be needed, but they didn't even try to triage.”

“NTA. I applaud you for ordering pizza. Bridal couple is lucky you didn't send them the bill for it,” commented another.
