A chef in Russia has confessed to luring a man to his flat so he could kill and eat him and then posting videos of the dishes he made from the corpse on the Internet.

The 21-year-old, only identified as Ivan L, confessed to police in the Arctic city of Murmansk that he had long wanted to eat a human and had pretended to be gay to get his victim to come to his home.

“I brought a person here and killed him,” said Ivan in a police video later posted on the LifeNews website. The video shows the chef re-enacting the murder with a shop dummy head and a knife.

“I proposed that he get undressed and get in the bath and there I killed him,” said Ivan on the video, where his face is pixelated out. “I turned him over, filled the bath with water so that the body would soften, then I cut it into bits, across, and fried in the pan. I added tomato puree, oil, fried and ate it all.”

Videos of the chef showing how to make dishes including beef patty and sausage from the body were posted on the Internet, LifeNews reported, but were later removed by the police.

“The only motive for the murder was his desire to taste human flesh,” local police chief Fyodor Blyudyonov told reporters.

The accused targeted the homosexual community because he believed he was more likely to get away with the crime, police said, as there was little likelihood that the victim would say where he was going.

Homosexuality is legal in Russia but there are very few openly homosexual people. “In this way the cannibal intended to attract another dozen people to his house,” said Blyudyonov.

The accused faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted but will first face a psychiatric examination to see if he is fit to stand trial. - The Independent
