Hanoi - Vietnamese police arrested an 18-year-old man for stabbing one doctor to death and seriously wounding another after his older brother died of pneumonia in hospital, authorities said on Wednesday.
Nguyen Van Dung, 18, was arrested for killing Pham Duc Giau, 60, and seriously injuring Ngo Duy Hoan, 30, in Thai Binh province on Tuesday, police said.
“He was frustrated after his brother died,” Nguyen Van Hung, chief of Vu Thu District police department, said. “I was not at the hospital when his brother was sent there, so I don't know how well the doctors treated him.”
The teenager had no previous criminal convictions, Hung said.
Dung's 20-year-old brother was taken to the district hospital in critical condition on Tuesday. The teenager allegedly threatened to kill the medical staff if they failed to save his brother.
When doctors asked Dung and his family to come to their office to sign the death certificate, he stabbing Giau in the chest and Hoan in the stomach, authorities said.
Dung fled the hospital after the attack and was arrested later the same day in a hotel room. - Sapa-dpa
