Surveillance cameras will be installed at all government offices in Equatorial Guinea after a high ranking official's raunchy acts with women, in his office, went viral earlier this week.
Vice President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mangue, said government will roll-out the installation of surveillance cameras in all offices of state bodies.
"We have taken this measure to ensure compliance with the law on public officials and to eradicate indecorous and illicit behaviour. We will not tolerate it," he said.
Earlier this week, more than 400 sex tapes featuring the country’s director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), Baltasar Ebang Engonga went viral. In the videos, mostly filmed in his office on his cellphone, he can be seen engaging in sexual acts with various women, including his colleagues’ wives.
It is alleged that Engonga was arrested on separate charges and police officials discovered the explicit content during a search at his home. It is unclear how the footage was then downloaded and shared, however, hundreds of videos have since surfaced on Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok.
Mangue said they are going to proceed with the immediate suspension of all officials who have had sexual relations in the offices of the country's ministries.
