A police officer allegedly killed his girlfriend and a friend during a house party in the North West.

The incident took place in Zone 2, Itsoseng near Lichtenburg the early hours of Saturday morning.

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said when police arrived on scene they found three people with fatal gunshot wounds.

Another person had been shot and wounded and was in a critical condition.

She said Emergency and Medical Rescue Services declared that the trio (two men and a woman) deceased on scene.

The injured individual was sent to a hospital for treatment.

“It is alleged that the friends were having a house party, when 28-year-old Constable Lesego Eugene Phefo, took out a firearm and started shooting.

“Tlhalefo Setlhare, 38, girlfriend to of the officer and another male (name and age to be confirmed) were shot multiple times and died on the scene.

“The Constable was also found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head and a firearm, close to his body,” Myburgh said.

She said police are investigating a case double murder, attempted murder, and an inquest docket.

Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, the Provincial Police Commissioner, sent his sincere sympathies to the families of the dead.

He reminded and advised all SAPS personnel to access the Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) services in the event of a problem.
