PARLIAMENT - MPs conducting public hearings on whether section 25 of the Constitution needs amending to allow for the expropriation of land without compensation are expected in the Western Cape on Wednesday.

The joint constitutional review committee set up to deal with the matter has already conducted hearings in South Africa's eight other provinces.

A delegation from the committee will be in Oudtshoorn on Wednesday to get input from residents on whether they think land should be expropriated in the public interest and whether a constitutional review was necessary to effect this.
