The Absa Run Your City series is set to electrify the streets of Tshwane on August 25 with a 10km road running event that promises to deliver excitement, community spirit and top class athleticism.

The event will also feature lively sponsors’ activations, including the Absa High 5 Zone, Puma Forever Faster 100 sprint, Chery Cheer Zone, hydration stations, Castle Lite Zone and the Avis Mobility Zone.

The event, which will start at the Union Buildings, will feature a flat and fast route that showcases the city’s landmarks and vibrant culture.

Absa’s head of sponsorship, brand and marketing, Jabulile Nsibanyoni, said she was excited about the planned entertainment along the Tshwane race route.

“We are dedicated to creating unforgettable community experiences. This event embodies our commitment by showcasing a vibrant celebration of Tshwane’s diversity and heritage,” she said.

She added that the entertainment along the route would aim to highlight the city’s unique traditions and spirit, offering participants and spectators a colourful tapestry of cultural performances.

Puma run train marketing manager Rae Trew-Borowne said they were excited to introduce the new Puma Forever Faster 100 Sprint to the energetic street of Tshwane.

“Our activation is designed to spark runners’ competitive edge and drive them toward a new personal best.”

She said to sweeten the challenge and add motivation , they were providing in-store discount vouchers for participants in the Puma forever faster 100 sprinter section.

“There will be a 20% discount for under 20 seconds and a 15% discount for under 25 seconds. This bonus incentive is meant to encourage runners to get out of their comfort zones and achieve their personal bests.”

Executive deputy general manager of Chery South Africa, Tony Liu, said they were delighted to help enhance the incredible experience at the event.

“The excitement kicks off with the highly anticipated Cherry Tiggo 4 pro LiT draw, where all entrants have a chance to become the proud owner of this stylish vehicle,” he said.

He added that they looked forward to welcoming another runner to the Chery family at this event. “The fun does not stop there. Our Chery Cheer Zone on the route aims to uplift and energise runners as they make their way to finish line,” he said.

Liu said participants could expect a memorable experience that embodied Chery’s commitment to promote active and healthy communities.

“We look forward to cheering on all the runners as they take on this iconic race in the jacaranda city,” he said.

Nsibanyoni said the event would welcomed the Cancer Association of South Africa as the official charity of the series.

“When entering the event online , runners can show their support by donating towards the Cancer Association of South Africa,” Nsibanyoni said.
