There is a new trend in hiring activity which showed that there is a demand for Design, Media & Arts professionals has increased by 22% particularly for jobs roles such as Journalism / Writing /Editing and Interior Design.

This according to a comparison to hiring activity over the last three months (October, November, December 2024) with the previous three months (July, August, September 2024).

This data was revealed in the CareerJunction Employment Insights Report Q4 2024 which an analysis of the supply and demand trends in the online job market.

For Warehousing & Logistics professionals hiring activity increased by 9% 

While the Design, Media & Arts as well as the Warehousing & Logistics saw growth in hiring activity, there was also a decrease in hiring activity for certain professionals. 

A comparison of the last three months (October, November, December 2024) with the previous three months (July, August, September 2024), has shown that hiring activity has declined for Finance professionals (7%), for Sales professionals (12%), and for IT professionals (5%).

There was a decline in hiring activity for the following IT professionals: Systems / Network Administration; Business Analysis; Data Analysis / Data Warehousing; and Software Development.

Financial / Project; Accounting Purchasing & Procurement; Accounts Payable /Receivable; Cost & Management Accounting; and Bookkeeping are the Finance professionals that there was decline in hiring activity for.

For the Sales job sector there was a decrease in hiring activity for the following professionals: Retail; Representative / Sales Consulting; and Account Management. 

Overall, recruitment activity levels for Q4 2024 were similar to Q3 2024.

However, year-on-year the number of vacancies dropped by 2.7% and over the past two years (from Q4:2022 to Q4:2024) hiring activity has declined by 2.9%.

Slow hiring activity has been noticeable for most of 2024, according to the report.
