A stunning view of the lower town from the higher town showing the unique architecture, ruins next to red-roofed houses and the shimmering Baltic Sea beyond.

The Town of Visby on the Swedish Island of Gotland is known as the “city of roses and ruin”.

A beautiful sidewalk cafe, with roses of course.

Ruins of a Roman Church. The walls and shells are magnificent in their simplicity.

The stark contrast between the exquisite colours of the roses and lavender and the stone of the ancient statues and iron gates is striking and obviously instagrammable.

Of course, my love for photographing doors was richly rewarded by Visbys beautiful and interesting doorways.

The streets of the new town with its pretty buildings and old signage.

Unusual colour and wooden structure of this home is eye-catching.
