Cape Town City will make the long trip to the haven of wild life as they take aim at getting their season back on track with their Betway Premiership clash against Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday (3.30pm kick-off).

Both teams are at opposite ends of the table, with the Cape side looking to tighten the screws on their top eight position, while Magesi are barely hanging on to their place in the top flight.

The return of veteran coach Muhsin Ertugral injected life into a Cape Town City side and they managed to turn around their season that had hit rock bottom and were seemingly building a ladder back to the top with surprise 1-0 victories against the two Soweto Giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

Things have not been smooth sailing since then, as they have only managed to collect four points from a possible twelve. Their resurgence following Eric Tinkler's dismissal had such an impact that they head into this fixture against Magesi still hanging on to their sixth place on the table from their 16 matches.

The expectation on current form will be for them to get one over a Magesi side that cannot get over their struggles and as their Premiership dream is increasingly seeming like a one-season gleam that could see them swiftly depart at the end of the season, as even their home encounters haven’t counted for much.

Following their maiden win of the Carling Knockout competition in their debut season in the Premier Soccer League, they haven’t been able to transfer that form into league competition.

And to expand on just how bad their season has gotten, even Royal AM, whose players last kicked a ball in any competitive match at the end of December, still occupy a position higher having only played eleven matches before trouble did not only not knock but invited itself into their home.

Owen da Gama will need to apply his steady experienced hand on a ship that is just about sailing, and as the Citizens have taken a knock to their confidence, this clash could offer a perfect opportunity for Dikwena tsa Meetse to glide through the water like they own the depths.

Elsewhere, the battle for the top eight positions will intensify as TS Galaxy will welcome Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday (15:30 kick-off).

Both sides are separated by a single point and a win for either one of them could see them make inroads within the top eight positions as only four points separate eleventh-placed Chippa United from fifth-placed Kaizer Chiefs.

The Rockets have been soaring since Adnan Beganovic took over and they go into this clash unbeaten in ten matches.

They will rue the six draws they have played, as their current position could have been higher up but against a struggling Chilli Boys side at home, the road ahead could be a blank page just waiting for them to write their next chapter, which they will hope is a win.

The Chilli Boys will feed off their 4-1 win against Magesi but more key to their season will be if they can gather some momentum and build on it for the rest of their campaign.
