Sports minister Gayton McKenzie’s promise to bring the Springboks’ games to every home in South Africa was realised, in part, on Friday when it was announced Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against the All Blacks will be broadcast live on SABC 2.
While it was not completely what the sports minister promised — to broadcast all Springbok games on SABC — it was a step in the right direction.
McKenzie added that the decision to have the match also broadcast on SABC was in part to celebrate 30 of democracy.

“This partnership is a major milestone for our sport, showcasing the advances we've made over the last thirty years and reaffirming our dedication to promoting social unity.
“As we honour this tradition, we take pride in embracing our diversity as a strength, both in the game and within our organisation.”
The Springboks go up against the All Blacks at Ellis Park seeking to maintain their 100% start to the current Rugby Championship campaign.
Rassie Erasmus’ men began with two impressive wins over the Wallabies, while the All Blacks were slow out of the blocks as they lost their first match against Argentina in Wellington.
However, Scott Robertson’s charges rebounded brilliantly and made light work in the second Test at Eden Park in Auckland.
