Rumours are swirling that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is eyeing a bold new venture—purchasing Liverpool Football Club. The speculation gained traction after Musk’s father, Errol Musk, hinted at the possibility during a recent interview with Times Radio.

When asked directly if his son plans to buy Liverpool FC, Errol replied with a chuckle: "I can’t comment on that—they’ll raise the price!" However, he did acknowledge Elon’s interest, adding, "Oh yes, he has expressed a desire, but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it."

Why Liverpool FC?

Elon Musk’s connection to Liverpool runs deeper than football. According to Errol, the Musk family has ties to the city. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives there. We were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know," he explained.

Could Musk Afford the Club?

With a staggering net worth of $424.9 billion, Elon Musk certainly has the financial power to acquire Liverpool FC. The club is currently valued at £4.2 billion by Forbes, although it’s unclear whether the current owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are willing to sell.

Liverpool’s Current Form

Liverpool FC is thriving both domestically and internationally. The team sits at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand and leads league phase table in the Champions League. This success could make the club an even more attractive investment for Musk.

What’s Next?

While Errol Musk’s comments have fuelled speculation, there’s no official confirmation from Elon Musk or FSG regarding a potential sale. For now, fans can only watch and wait to see if the billionaire entrepreneur will make a move into the world of football.
