JOHANNESBURG - The 2018/2019 MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) season got underway this past weekend. Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammersdale hosted the first festival of the new campaign and that’s where most of our nominees for the team of the week were picked from.
On the left wing, we’ve got Sundowns’ captain Promise Mkhuma, who scored a cracker and won a penalty for his side as they hammered Maritzburg United 3-0. On the right, there’s AmaZulu’s trickster Charlie Hlalele ,who punished his former team Orlando Pirates as he provided an assist and scored the winner.
The duo will be playing provider to Khanyisa Mayo and Somila Ntsundwana upfront. Given Thibedi, will stabilise our midfield and provide backup to the back-four, which consists of Keanu Cupido, Sibusiso Maluleke, Wade Moodley - who made his debut for Chiefs after returning from Europe - and Siyanda Msani.
Zukile Kewuti will be the link between defence and attack. Bruce Bvuma is the entrusted man between the sticks, especially after ensuring that Kaizer Chiefs bagged the spoils with a fine late penalty save against defending champions Golden Arrows.
