CAPE TOWN – Defending champions SuperSport United will continue the defence of their MTN8 title against Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-finals.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori advanced to the last four late on Saturday night after seeing off Orlando Pirates 4-3 on penalties, after the quarter-final ended deadlocked at 2-2 following extra time at the Orlando Stadium.
The draw was conducted on Sunday afternoon at the Harry Gwala Stadium, where Cape Town City beat Maritzburg United 1-0 to go through to the semi-finals.
Keanu Cupido scored just before halftime for the Citizens.
Now Benni McCarthy’s team will host league champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semi-final on August 25, with SuperSport playing in the first game against the Amakhosi.
The return legs will take place on September 1.
Chiefs cruised through with a 3-0 victory over Free State Stars, while Sundowns swept aside Polokwane City 2-0.
