They started their journey at their Hartleyvale home, mixed with the mayor at City Hall, and showed off their eKasi moves in Gugulethu, Langa and Khayelitsha on what turned out to be a memorable day for Benni McCarthy and his Cape Town City team.
They were the underdogs in coming up against defending MTN8 champions SuperSport United, but that didn’t stop Cape Town City from surviving a penalty shootout to clinch their second trophy in their short history on September 29.
And with the international break this week, it was time to get down and party with the people of the Mother City.
The Citizens showed off their MTN8 trophy in an open-top bus parade through the CBD and the Cape Flats on Thursday, and they were greeted by a boisterous crowd in front of City Hall.

They were congratulated by mayor Patricia de Lille, and continued dancing on the bus as they wound their way from town to Langa, Gatesville, and on to Gugulethu, Hanover Park, Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha.

City will be back on the field on Tuesday, October 23 when they take on AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout at the King Zwelithini Stadium in uMlazi (7.30pm kickoff).
