CAPE TOWN – Life almost can’t get any better for Thabo Nodada right now.
The 23-year-old midfielder scored the winning penalty for Cape Town City to secure a 4-1 shoot-out triumph in the MTN8 final against SuperSport United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.
It was a welcome piece of silverware for City, who had only won the Telkom Knockout in 2016 before.
The MTN8 title was also the first for coach Benni McCarthy in his second season in charge, after the Citizens lost via penalties to SuperSport last year.
And then on Monday, with City still basking in the glory of their cup success, Nodada received his maiden call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad from coach Stuart Baxter.
His teammates took to social media to congratulate him, and the man himself was delighted by the good news.
He posted a video on Twitter, showing him screaming in the City change room and with the words: “OH MY GOD”
