Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was left stunned after yet another defeat, this time a 2-0 Champions League humbling at the hands of Juventus in Turin on Wednesday evening.

City notched up their seventh defeat in their last 10 matches in all competitions, and it also meant the English Premier League champions will have their work cut out for them to qualify for the last 16 in the new format Champions League.

The Manchester side find themselves in 22nd place in the 36-team table, with only the top 24 progressing out of the group phase.

With matches against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Club Brugge remaining for City in the competition, they will face an uphill task to avoid elimination.

Emphatic response

Guardiola was asked by reporters after the match if he questioned himself after the latest setback, he responded: "Yeah, of course.

"Of course I question myself in the good moments and the bad moments," said Guardiola.

"I was stable in the good moments and I'm stable in the bad moments... My biggest challenge is when they give me the opportunity to be a manager and get results to continue to work.

"If I would miss the big challenge in the first season, the second season, I wouldn't be here.”

Next up for City though, is the Manchester derby against United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Despite their poor run, City will be expected to triumph at home with their win probability standing at 62% against a United team still finding their feet under new coach Ruben Amorim.
