It’s the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and people are rooting for their respective countries. South Africa is sitting at number 12, with three medals – one gold and two bronze.

To support team South Africa, adidas has announced the release of its original docuseries, “Road to Paris”.

The six-part series offers an exclusive look into the lives of six distinguished South African athletes as they prepared for the Paris Olympic Games, which started on July 26.

The six athletes featured in the campaign:

Jo-Ané van Dyk, 26

Track and field (javelin): Committed to excel, Van Dyk won a silver medal at the All African Games 2024 in Ghana earlier this year.

Akani Simbine, 30

Track and field (100m and 4 x 100m relay): As one of the fastest sprinters in the world, Simbine’s story is a testament to the power of speed, precision and hard work.

Onthatile “Thati” Zulu, 24

Hockey: Zulu is no stranger to the big games as she participated at the Summer Olympics in 2020.

Boipelo Awuah, 19

Skateboarding: The youngest of the group, Awuah’s story is filled with determination as she couldn’t participate in the Summer Olympics in 2020 even after qualifying. This year, she’s showing the world what she’s capable of as she is participating in Skateboard Street.

Ryan Mphahlele, 25

Track and field (1 500m): The long-distance runner is determined to win at this year’s Olympic games and his relentless quest is fuelled by his love for his country and passion for running.

Mhlengi Gwala, 33

Triathlete: Gwala’s inspiring tale of overcoming a tragic accident to compete at the highest level showcases the true spirit of a Paralympian.

The clothing brand has also launched an exclusive collection to celebrate the sport stars.
