We’re a few weeks away from one of the world’s biggest fashion shows, New York Fashion Week and Barshai is preparing for its forthcoming spring/summer 25 NYFW presentation.
The brand will be unveiling its latest collection spring/summer 25 collection, "Pennies from Heaven," at an event taking place on September 10 at St Marks Church in the Bowery in New York City.
“Pennies from Heaven” draws its name and inspiration from the classic 1930s song made famous by Billie Holiday.
This collection is a continuation of the brand’s runway debut for Resort ’25 which launched in June this year.
While the Resort ‘25 collection explored Victoriana by focusing on bias cuts and corseting, SS25 delves into the life and times of Consuelo Vanderbilt, one of history's most famous American “Dollar Princesses."
Through this narrative, Barshai reflects on the transition from Victorian elegance to Art Deco modernity, spotlighting the a new woman who defied societal norms to do what she deemed fit.
"With this collection, I am excited to embrace the concept of unexpected good fortune, but with the understanding that even when it rains good news, they are only pennies from heaven,” said Erik Barshai, founder and creative director of the brand.
∎ New York Fashion Week runs from September 6 to 11.
