Laila Hotel
Located in Mahé, a few steps from Anse Royale Beach, this luxurious 4-star hotel features a large pool in the inner courtyard as well as various bars and restaurants.
It is located directly on the coast and only a few steps away from the beach. From the spacious rooms, you can enjoy a view of the coast, the sea, the surrounding mountains, the garden, or the pool, and some even have their own balcony or veranda.
Their deluxe room where I drowsed beautifully, opens out to a private veranda or balcony, and it’s wonderful watching the views of the property and the rich village life in the morning while having a hot cup of coffee.
When it comes to food, their main restaurant draws on an international array of cuisines and cultures, filtered through a distinctly Seychellois sensibility.
Popular points of interest near the hotel include Fairyland Beach, Pointe au Sel Beach, and Kot Man-Ya Exotic Flower Garden. The hotel is located just 20 minutes away from the Seychelles International Airport.
Le Duc De Praslin
Le Duc De Praslin is the second hotel I checked into, and is located on Praslin Island. The easiest way to get to Praslin from Mahé is by taking the 15-minute scenic plane flight from Mahé Airport (Air Seychelles).
While the scenic views are worth it, it is more expensive than simply taking the Cat Cocos high-speed ferry.
Just a 2-minute walk from the white and sandy beach of Cote d'Or, the hotel offers an unforgettable five-star experience.
Their “superior room” is set in the gardens exuding authentic local charm. The rooms are strewn around the main building which houses the reception and main restaurant, where water meanders through fish-ponds and lush tropical gardens.
What I loved most about this place was the view of the tropical garden. I could be in my own thoughts while enjoying a glass of red wine. I also loved the food.
Le Dauphin - the hotel’s main restaurant located in the heart of the hotel complex serves a sumptuous buffet in the evenings and a buffet breakfast in elegant tropical décor.
The buffet offers a fusion of dishes from the local Creole delicacies to international classic fare with an exotic twist. There is also a bar for cocktails and refreshments.
It is a great choice for your beach stay on Praslin Island, putting you close to activities like scuba diving and snorkeling.
Savoy Resort & Spa
This was the last accommodation I sampled before leaving Seychelles. The 5-star resort is located on Mahé, right on the famous beach of Beau Vallon.
It offers many carefully considered facilities to ensure that guests have a comfortable and convenient stay. Here you can indulge your senses in the unique concept spa, encounter the coast’s marine life, and unwind with a sundowner at the beach bar.
My room was equipped with a private balcony displaying the breathtaking views of their lush garden.
The great advantage of 5-star hotels in Seychelles is the great variety of local and international restaurants offering Creole national dishes, fresh seafood, and cuisines of the world.
The establishment boasts all of these. The sumptuous breakfast is served at their Grand Savoy restaurant which overlooks the hotel's tropical gardens.
For lunch, they recommend stopping by the Pescado gourmet restaurant. In the evening, you can choose between buffet dinners at the Grand Savoy or a romantic poolside dinner at Pescado for a freshly caught seafood menu.
