AWARD-WINNING YouTuber, Lasizwe Dambuza, has garnered immense support from his fans and industry friends after openly discussing his decision to prioritise mental health.

The charismatic entertainer, who has captured the hearts of many with his popular series Awkward Dates, has revealed that he has checked himself into a mental wellness facility to recharge and address personal challenges he has faced in recent months.

In a heartfelt message shared with his followers, Dambuza expressed that he is in a time of need for a restorative break, stating, “It's that time of the year when my Phone battery is extremely low, except this time, IT'S ME. My mental health is my battery, and I've checked myself into a mental wellness facility to recharge so I can show up and perform at my best.”

He emphasised that this decision stems not from exhaustion or burnout but rather from the whirlwind of experiences he has encountered this year.

With the success of his show Awkward Dates coming with its fair share of “heavy” moments, Dambuza confessed grappling with impostor syndrome and the complexities of his personal life, which has faced both highs and lows.

“I don't have parents to turn to... no mom, no dad to call up when life hits, so this is my outlet,” he shared. Acknowledging the importance of professional help, he reiterated, “Asking for help don't mean you're weak or broken. It's actually the strongest thing you can do.”

Encouraging others to listen to their mental and physical needs, he stated, "When your body or your mind tells you it needs you, listen. Don’t push that aside.”

“Recharge yourself because, at the end of the day, nobody's gonna take care of you the way you can,” he advised.

As he embarks on this journey of self-care, Dambuza has ensured that his fans stay connected, finding reassurance in the fact that his team will manage his social media while he is away, as phone use is not permitted in the facility.

“The show has to go on,” he remarked, underscoring his commitment to his work with ongoing social media campaigns and the continuation of his show.

“Also, thank you to my siblings! Thank you for dropping me off here and holding my hand during the check-in process,” he expressed gratitude for the support from his family, alongside his loyal fans.

He further assured his followers of his return and said, “The Sweerie, Bo Makothi I’ll see you guys when I am out and REFRESHED. I love you.”

His fans have thrown support behind his brave decision while some of the well known names have also shared heartfelt messages of support.
