Takealytics, a new data analytics platform has been launched with the aim to help sellers on Takealot be able to track product sales with ease, and gather necessary information, including potential returns, when making the decision to list a product on the e-commerce site.

Takealytics is an independent platform that pulls data from Takealot's public application programming interface (API) and provides valuable insights on the rate of sales, which can shape strategic decision-making for sellers.

One of the challenges that many sellers face when listing products on Takealot is the uncertainty of return on investment (ROI).

Sellers typically buy stock upfront, list the products, and wait for sales. But what happens when a product doesn't perform as expected? That’s where Takealytics comes in.

Takealytics addresses this challenge by providing sellers with access to sales data, allowing them to assess whether a product is likely to sell or not, before making the investment.

To provide real-time sales data and monthly sales forecasts, the platform also tracks competitive product information, including descriptions, images and even customer reviews on Takealot.

All to assist sellers in identifying which products are trending, which categories perform best, and how their listings will stack up against the competition.

The Takealytics platform can be accessed via the web, and has monthly subscription plans designed to fit sellers of all sizes, from small businesses to enterprise-level clients.

The plans are tailored according to the number of product searches and the amount of tracking a seller requires.

The future vision for Takealytics is broader than Takealot alone.

According to Robert Bodley, co-founder and CEO of Takealytics, the platform's ultimate goal is to expand its data analytics capabilities to other e-commerce platforms, even outside of South Africa, giving sellers a complete view of product performance across multiple marketplaces.
