The rubble has been cleared from the fire that gutted the Mofolo Cultural Bowl and collapsed the once rainbow-coloured building. But it’s still unclear how it started.

Emergency services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said yesterday: “We haven’t had any feedback from the fire safety division yet. It takes at least a month to complete the investigation. There are many possibilities because it appears the building was poorly maintained, but we can’t rule out arson at this stage.”

He said the fireman hospitalised after the roof fell on him, breaking his leg, was discharged yesterday.

The structure was undergoing renovations when it caught fire on January 18.
