Police used closed-circuit television camera footage to arrest a man who allegedly robbed a garage in Meadowlands.
“The police bust the 27-year-old man at his home on Wednesday around 3pm after the community members identified him on the CCTV footage of the Sasol garage,” Constable Sibusiso Chauke said yesterday.
“A cellphone of one of the workers of the garage, several packs of cigarettes and a 9mm pistol that the man used in the crime were found in his possession.”
The man was caught on camera entering the garage around 7am on Wednesday and forcing two workers to lie down at gunpoint. The footage showed him run away with R650 cash and various stolen items.
The man was expected to appear in the Orlando Magistrate’s Court today on charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm. – Sapa
