MUSIC, streetwear, food and music will be the order of the day at the Loxion Live Festival to be held at the Shap Stadium near Mofolo Park on Friday.

The festival, in its second year, will feature Afro-fusion saxophonist McCoy Mrubata, singers Thandiswa Mazwai and Simphiwe Dana, rap artist Siya Shezi, maskandi singer Nokwazi “Kwazi” Dlamini and urban crossover band 340ml.

The cross-cultural event will be characterised by a number of stalls by several up-and-coming local fashion designers. One of them, Mathabo Kgashane, will exhibit her wares under the label Black Vintage. She urged people looking for something different this Christmas to pop in at her stall.

Loxion Live is conceptualised by Zothani Vilakazi and Mlungisi Gamede of Ekhoneni Production. They say they were inspired by the late Arabi Mocheke who used to organise the annual Soweto Arts Festival until his death in 2009.

The festival kicks off at noon and tickets cost R30 at the gate.
