THE FAMILY* of the 39-year-old woman who was arrested for stabbing her daughter eight times has welcomed the Protea Magistrate’s Court decision yesterday to refer her to hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
The mother was taken to Sterkfontein Hospital, where she will spend 30 days.
She was accompanied by the investigating officer in charge of the case.
Her sister was happy about the decision, saying she needed that kind of intervention.
The sister told The Star her sibling was not a bad person and that she loved her daughter very much.
The attack took place on Sunday, May 23, at their home in White City.
The woman is due to return to court on July 29.
