THREE people were killed and two seriously injured in a head-on collision in Dobsonville, while 13 others were injured in another accident on Main Reef Road.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the accident between a bakkie and a car happened on Elias Motsoaledi Road on Saturday afternoon.

“According to the driver of the bakkie, he was travelling down Elias Motsoaledi Road when he noticed a vehicle spinning out of control. Exact details of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation,” Botha said.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the wreckages obstructing the road, with some of the patients still trapped in the crumpled metal.

“After treating the injured, they established that two females and a male, all in their twenties, died on impact, and two others sustained serious injuries.”

Another accident, in which 13 people were involved, occurred when a taxi and an Opel Astra collided on Main Reef Road near Dobsonville on Saturday evening.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene, where they found all the occupants of the taxi sitting on the side of the road complaining of various injuries,” said ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak.

“A man was found in the Opel Astra with minor injuries.

“Emergency services had to join forces to treat the injured on the scene and transport them to hospital,” he said.
