AWARD-WINNING house trio J'Something and Mi Casa are headed for Durban for the Music at the Lake concert series at the Botanic Gardens. The show will take place on September 11.

The musicians will be supported on stage by Angel Mazibuko and DJ Micheal Zuma. The Music at the Lake series presents live concerts and movies throughout the year at the Botanic Gardens as part of fundraising efforts.

Stu Berry, the CEO of Impi Concerts who puts the events together, said: “We have done two shows already, Goldfish and Jeremy Loops. This is the third show that we are doing this year. We are slowly bringing these concerts back based on demand and there has been good demand so far for Micasa.

“Our objective is exposing the Botanic Gardens to people. It’s a partly municipal-funded garden but works off a lot of funds that we raise. These concerts are raising funds to make sure that these gardens are maintained. They are the oldest botanic gardens in Africa, so they are important.”

Berry said they hoped to do another concert later this year.

“And from next year we hope that sponsors will return to these outdoor music events. We are hoping to do six to seven (shows) a year.”

Tickets range from R100 to R320. You may bring your own drinks and food, picnic blankets and camping chairs. Cooler boxes are charged at R50 at the gate.
