Earlier today, an adult bull that fell into a pit toilet in Redcliffe, Verulam, was rescued by officers from Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa).

The officers received a report from a resident that a herd of cows and bulls were grazing in the area and that one of the bulls had climbed onto a pit latrine, which collapsed under its weight.

Prem Balram, of Rusa, said officers at the scene called for additional members and ropes to assist in saving the bull before it drowned.

“Responding officers enlisted the help of the public and after 30 minutes, they removed the animal using ropes attached to its horns. The herdsman could not be located,” said Balram.

Balram said the bull was not injured.
