It is open to proactive youths in township communities and central Cape Town interested in gaining skills in event management, concert promotion and marketing within the music industry and technical production.

Craig Parks, the Cape Town programme co-ordinator, told Weekend Argus: “We are urging females to apply because there are usually mostly males who are dominating in the technical departments of the events industry.

“This project is open to males and females but we would like to equip more females to come on board, we positively want [the females] them to become more dominant in this industry.

“Look at who are behind most of the technical jobs such as lighting, sound, stage management, artist hospitality and marketing and so on, 90% are made of males.”
