Cape Town - The much anticipated all-female social gathering is drawing nearer and we're excited to host some of the Cape's most influential women on a list of keynote speakers and illustrators at the Weekend Argus Women's Wellness Experience.

The event takes place at the President Hotel on September 28 and is set to be a dazzling affair as all things health and wellness will be served on the day.

Attendees get to ask questions and engage with the services brought right to the event, all this coupled with a jam-packed goody bag on the day.

Among the gems are Annelize Collins from Vertical Secrets who will be giving the ladies a session on pole dancing.

Collins highlights the empowering aspects of pole dancing for women and what patrons can expect from her session at the wellness experience.

“Pole dancing encourages women to embrace their bodies, regardless of shape or size. The focus is on what the body can do rather than how it looks, fostering a more positive body image.

“Pole dancing empowers women by building physical strength, boosting confidence, and fostering body positivity. It challenges participants to embrace their bodies, regardless of size, and focuses on what their bodies can achieve.

“The session will highlight strength-building exercises, celebrating progress, and fostering self-acceptance in an inclusive, supportive environment.

“Sensuality and self-expression are key, with routines that encourage participants to connect with their femininity and sexuality, enhancing self-confidence.

“The session will also promote mental resilience by gradually introducing challenging moves, reinforcing perseverance and determination.”

Collins said pole dancing challenges fitness stereotypes by offering a full-body workout that combines strength, flexibility, and fun, breaking the “cardio-only” approach often promoted for women.

“It reframes strength training as empowering, promotes body positivity by focusing on ability over appearance, and dispels the notion that fitness must be serious or rigid.

“By blurring gender lines and promoting inclusivity, pole dancing redefines fitness as a journey that celebrates all body types, ages, and abilities, making it more accessible and empowering for everyone.”

Speakers include a medical doctor, sexual medicine and wellness expert Dr Heather Blaylock, obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Zethu Mtimkulu and psychologist and life coach Dr Marelize Swart.

Attendees will enjoy a performance by Vertical Secrets Pole Dance Studio, interactive sessions, get to participate in a rejuvenating Pilates session and a make-up demonstration by Leslie Beauty Bar, and a buffet lunch.

Tickets cost R350 at Quicket.
