SA Weather Service to evaluate damage after tornado confirmed in Germiston

Saws is assessing the damage following a short-lived tornado in Germiston on Thursday

A brief tornado that was seen Thursday afternoon in the Germiston area of the East Rand region of Gauteng has been confirmed by the South African Weather Service (Saws).
"Saws teams will conduct an on-site damage assessment to determine its intensity," the weather forecaster said.
More information will be released once the team's assessment is finalised.
Earlier, Saws reported on developing thundershowers in parts of the country. A Yellow Level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms was also issued.
