South Africa’s tech jobs market is showing clear signs of recovery, with a new report revealing a notable uptick in demand for specialised digital skills.
According to Pnet’s latest report, which looks at hiring activity across the local labour market, technology jobs in the country have increased significantly, with roles such as Business Analysts, Data Analysts and Software Developers among the most advertised as employers step up recruitment in areas critical to digital transformation and data capability.
"After a prolonged decline, the tech sector is showing its first meaningful signs of recovery," the report noted.
"Over the past five months, more tech vacancies have entered the job market – a notable shift after several years dominated by global and local announcements of large-scale layoffs across IT and technology companies. As demand contracted worldwide, tech job opportunities decreased, including in South Africa".
The report added that "year-on-year, tech vacancies have increased by +18%, with a +10% month-on-month rise from September to October 2025, signalling a clear and sustained uplift in the sector".
According to Pnet, these are the top 10 most in‑demand tech jobs currently advertised in South Africa’s labour market.
