Two suspects are due to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of media personality Warrick Robert Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras.

The two individuals, who police believe were involved in the killing of DJ Warras, a radio and club DJ and television presenter, were arrested during the early hours of Monday at a hostel in Soweto.

Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that two people of interest were taken in for questioning on Monday and were due for a court appearance on Wednesday.

DJ Warras, 40, who was also the director of a security company, was confronted by three suspects outside the Zambezi Building in Johannesburg's CBD.

One of the suspects opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

CCTV footage of the killing, which occurred in broad daylight, showed that one of the suspects had dreadlocks.

It is believed that DJ Warras had recently obtained five protection orders due to threats he received.

A manhunt for the killers was subsequently launched by police.

Speaking during an oversight visit to Pretoria last week, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola said that a “known suspect” had been identified and gave an indication that a breakthrough in the investigations was imminent.

This follows police previously stating that three unknown suspects had approached DJ Warras when he was shot. Police have yet to establish the motive for DJ Warras' death."
