DURBAN - The Durban High Court will be temporarily moved to new premises from December 2021 due to renovations.

The Office of the Chief Justice has issued a statement informing of the move.

RSA Judiciary spokesperson Nathi Mncube said that on December 13, 2021, the KwaZulu-Natal Local Division of the High Court in Durban will relocate to the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

This is to allow renovations to be undertaken to the current facility of the Local Division situated at 12 Dullah Omar (Masonic Grove) Street. The renovations are expected to continue for a period of more than five years.

“The relocation to the Durban Magistrate’s Court will ensure the continuation of court services and access by members of the public. All services rendered by the Local Division will continue to be fully accessible to the public and the litigants at the new location,” Mncube said.

“The move of offices will happen during the recess period of the high court which commences on December 6, 2021, to January 17, 2022. This is so as to limit disruption to services.”

Mncube said the RSA Judiciary urged all court users of both facilities to bear with them through the transition.

All Local Division services will resume from January 17, 2022, at the Durban Magistrate’s Court (corner of Somtseu and Stalwart Simelane streets, Durban, 4025).
