The home focuses on soothing hues, organic patterns, and natural materials such as marble, unlacquered brass, wood, and terrazzo. These elements meld the boundaries between the interior and the exterior, inviting the tranquillity of the surrounding environment into every room. The panoramic windows and large terraces emphasise this, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the pine forest.
Interior designer Lada Shefler has masterfully created a serene ambiance that reflects the calm of nature. The choice of natural materials enhance the home's connection to its surroundings. In the main bedroom, a sage green headboard and artichoke green themed bathroom evoke calmness, while herringbone marble floor tiles and a cement countertop add an earthy texture.
Shefler drew significant inspiration from both Scandinavian and Australian architecture. Her admiration for Scandinavian design stems from its simple, clean lines and functional beauty, which align with the natural landscapes of Russia, her home country. Shefler’s travels to Sweden, Finland, and Norway deepened her appreciation for the minimalist, nature-integrated approach that is characteristic of Scandinavian aesthetics.
On the other hand, she was captivated by Australian architecture during her time in Australia, where the emphasis on spaciousness, luxurious materials, and a strong connection with the environment resonated deeply with her. This blend of influences is evident in the home’s design, where the simplicity of Scandinavian style meets the expansive, nature-focused elements typical of Australian architecture.
The house was designed for a couple with three young children and offers a stress-free environment in an otherwise chaotic routine. The open plan kitchen, the heart of the home, is bright and inviting, featuring floating oak shelves, wooden beams, hand-painted cabinets, and marble countertops.
The spacious living room is divided into a dining area and a cosy lounge, separated by a built-in fireplace wall.
Two distinct wings connected by a corridor determine the layout of the house, balancing family interaction with a desire for privacy. The left wing is dedicated to the children, with bedrooms and a playroom, while the right holds the main bedroom and guest room, offering parents a private retreat.
The home is filled with careful details and luxurious touches. From the dining table and chairs by House of Finn Juhl to the armchairs by DeMuro Das and the hand-painted cabinets by deVOL Kitchens, every piece contributes to the home's distinctive character.
