Kelly Osbourne has hit back at body shamers who targeted her appearance following an emotional night at the BRIT Awards, calling out the “cruelty” of online abuse as she continues to grieve her late father, Ozzy Osbourne.
The television personality took to Instagram stories on Sunday to address the wave of hurtful comments about her weight loss and physical appearance after she and her mother, Sharon Osbourne, appeared on stage to accept a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on Ozzy’s behalf.
“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,” Kelly wrote.
“Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love the most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character.”
She made it clear that she is facing an intensely difficult period and should not have to justify her appearance to strangers.
“I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

Her emotional response came after what should have been a deeply meaningful moment for the Osbourne family.
Sharon and Kelly appeared on stage to honour Ozzy, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, who died in July last year at the age of 76.
Accepting the honour, Sharon delivered a heartfelt speech that drew cheers from the audience.
“I know that Ozzy is looking down on us all right now, and I know what he is thinking. He hated to make speeches. He hated listening to speeches. He’d be saying, ‘Hey, missus, shut the f*** up!’ But I’m not going to,” she said.
She reflected on his relentless drive and gratitude for his career, adding, “He always wanted to do better, both personally and professionally. He never felt that words were enough to thank everybody for the life that he was given and for the life that he led. He may not be here, but he left us one amazing body of work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him.”
Kelly also briefly addressed the audience, thanking fans for their unwavering support. “Thank you for loving my father as much as we do,” she said, before proudly adding, “Up the Villa! Birmingham forever!”
The ceremony included a powerful tribute performance of Ozzy’s iconic hit “No More Tears,” curated by Sharon and featuring musicians who had worked with him over the years, alongside a special appearance by Robbie Williams.
Instead of celebrating the moment, Kelly soon found herself dealing with a barrage of online criticism.
Her appearance has long been a topic of public discussion, particularly as she has navigated grief and personal upheaval in recent months.
The scrutiny intensified after she appeared slimmer following Ozzy’s funeral, with Kelly explaining that the emotional toll of losing her father had significantly affected her body.
Kelly has lived much of her life in the public eye, first gaining fame as a teenager on the family’s reality series, The Osbournes, which aired from 2002 to 2005.
Growing up under constant media attention meant her body and appearance were often dissected by critics and tabloids alike.
She has been open about undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in 2018, later explaining in 2020, “You have to do every single thing that they tell you to do when you do the surgery, or it doesn’t work.”
But even years later, she has continued to face harsh commentary about her changing appearance.
In December 2025, she spoke candidly about the toll her father’s death had taken.
“My life is completely flipped upside down. I don’t understand how people expect me to bounce back and look like everything is just fine in my life when it’s not. People’s faces change when you grow older,” she said.
The criticism did not stop there.
After hosting the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective presentation during London Fashion Week, Kelly shared photos of herself, only to receive a particularly cruel comment that read, “Looks like a dead body… she's tooooo thin and fragile… Looks like she's going to see her dad soon”.
Sharing a screenshot of the remark, she responded bluntly: “Literally can’t believe how disgusting some human beings truly are. No one deserves this sort of abuse!”
Her response highlights a painful reality that many women face.
No matter their size, shape or circumstances, their bodies are constantly placed under a microscope.
Whether they gain weight, lose weight, age or simply exist in the public eye, there is always someone ready to criticise.
Too often, people feel entitled to comment without considering the emotional toll or the personal battles behind the image.
Kelly’s experience is a stark reminder that behind every headline and social media post is a human being navigating life, loss and healing.
