It’s graduation season and Abongwe Mseleku is adding another milestone to the Mseleku family legacy.

The 21-year-old content creator and reality star recently celebrated completing her degree at AFDA Film School, marking a major achievement in both her life and her family’s story.

The “Izingane Zes’thembu” reality star celebrated the occasion with her proud parents, Musa Mseleku and MaCele Mseleku, sharing the special moment with loved ones and followers on social media.

Abongwe walked the stage to accept her degree in film production from AFDA in Johannesburg this past weekend.

With her accomplishment, she becomes the second of Musa’s children to earn a university qualification, following her sister Mpilo, who graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal last year.

The graduate opened her heart in a heartfelt Facebook post, expressing gratitude for her mother’s unwavering support

A tribute to her mother

“Thank you God! What a blessing it is to walk across the stage and not just walk across it but look to my left and wave at both my parents.

“What a blessing it is to bring uncontrollable tears of joy to them. ‘This is for you mom’, and then suddenly everything you’ve ever prayed for Ma has come to fruition.

“Your love and support is unconditional and what a blessing it is to fulfill your prayer point. More than anything I am filled with gratitude, you’ve been crying since the beginning of the month and we are literally at the end and you are still crying? You have no idea how happy I am to do this for you. Welcome to graduation Ma,” she wrote.

Honouring her father

Abongwe also dedicated her achievement to her father, reflecting on a difficult period when he suffered two strokes

“Mthombeni, the Lord has been good to us more than anything. Two years ago I cried terribly cause I almost lost a huge part of me, I went back to school and had to act like nothing was wrong cause unfortunately life had to go on. I texted you almost every day just to make sure I was still safe and you were still kicking.

“Two years later I still cry but I cry with a smile on my face and relief in my heart because even after you had said ‘uzograduater ngikhona noma ngingekho’ (you’ll graduate whether I’m alive or not) the Lord had mercy upon me and made sure you lived to see this day.

“Thank you for believing in me at all times, for making sure I go to school, for crying the whole month too, for being a present father and most importantly thank you for loving me. I can’t wait to see the funny caption you write when you post,” she concluded, mocking her father’s social media presence.
