American alternative R&B trio Moonchild has officially announced their upcoming album “Waves”, set for release on February 20, 2026.

The group, made up of Amber Navran, Andris Mattson and Max Bryk, shared the news on Instagram, revealing the project days after releasing their newest single “Ride The Wave”.

“Our 6th album ‘Waves’ is coming out 2/20! Waves is about grief, healing, and growth. It’s about finding strength, resilience, self-worth and community through challenges. It’s a vulnerable and personal continuation of our sound and path as a band. We can’t wait to share it with you,” the caption read.

This will be the band’s sixth studio album and their first since 2022’s “Starfruit”. Known for their smooth mix of R&B, soul and pop, Moonchild continues to expand their sound while staying true to their jazzy roots with their latest singles.

South African fans will remember their captivating performances at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in 2019 and again in 2024, where their effortless music and laid-back vibe left lasting impressions.

Before releasing “Ride The Wave” on October 10, the trio dropped their lead single “Not Sorry”, featuring rapper Rapsody and Jill Scott, a soulful and confident track that set the tone for what’s still to come.

Their latest single brings a gentler, more reflective mood. It features artist Astyn Turr, whose rich runs blend beautifully with Navran’s soothing and airy vocals. Together, they deliver a song about endurance and embracing the unpredictable rhythm of life.

Built around Moonchild’s signature sound, “Ride The Wave” feels both intimate and soothing.

It serves as that assuring reminder that things will be okay, to just keep riding the chaotic wave that is life, because after all, you can’t keep it from coming.

Since forming in 2011, Moonchild has built a name for itself as a self-sufficient and musically rich group. According to reports, the three first connected while on tour together and bonded over their shared love of jazz and soul.

All alumni of the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music, they decided early on to record, produce and even perform their own horn arrangements, shaping the foundation of their signature sound that they are widely known for today.
